Best Things to do in Queenstown this Autumn

Queenstown in autumn is a particularly beautiful time of the year with vibrant colours illuminating the resort township and its surrounds.

The temperatures have dropped but that doesn’t mean there is any lack of things to do. If you don’t feel like venturing out then it is the perfect time of the year to simply relax and enjoy an abundance of wining and dining options. Here are some of our recommendations:

1. Arrowtown Autumn festival is currently running and you can expect a relaxed environment in stunning surrounds. With a fantastic programme that celebrates the regions heritage, there is plenty to do for the whole family from gold panning to live music and theatre.  This great event is on till April 29th so if you are in Queenstown this weekend then we highly recommend you pay it a visit.

2. Mountain biking – while some adventure seekers are waiting for the snow, mountain biking really appears to be taking off in the region. Earlier in the month, Queenstown played host to the Queenstown bike festival, further establishing the region as a mountain biking mecca. The combination of amazing scenery and world class trails make Queenstown the ideal place to go for an epic ride.  The team at NZbyBike have a great section on Queenstown with all you need to know.

3. Relax – Why not, you have earned it? Take it easy and soak up the amazing surrounds of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables while enjoying a glass of the regions renowned Pinot Noir. Or make the most of the pampering & spa options such as Onsen Hot Pools or Body Sanctum day spa.

4. Dine - stay warm and enjoy some of the regions 150 restaurants, bars and cafes including our very own threesixty Restaurant with sweeping views over Lake Wakatipu.
